Until… (story continued on from previous post).

Christmas of 2021 was right around the corner, and another talented local photographer Mel Hill Photography was advertising studio sessions with Christmas trees and all… oh and pets were also welcome! Perfect, considering we had welcomed an adorable ball of fluff (Lumi the loveable Lappie) into our lives earlier that year. This time I made sure my boyfriend had his outfit ready in advance. The morning of our photoshoot, our puppy was sick. I took her to the vet quick smart, and luckily, I was assured it was nothing serious. With the all-clear, I was determined not to let the events of the morning get in the way of our photoshoot, so off to the studio we went.

As expected, the photographer was amazing – I knew she was capturing the photos I had dreamed about for so long (albeit looking a little different to what was originally planned due to all the changes). She took lots of photos, worked quickly (necessary with the bundle of energy that is our dog), and made the whole experience so enjoyable and easy. When we got in the car after the photoshoot, I turned to my boyfriend and exclaimed, ‘We did it!’ Finally!

Our favourite photo from the session now sits proudly on the desk in my office.

I love it – not only does my boyfriend look super handsome, but it’s the first photo we have together of the three of us. I was also able to use one of the photos as my business profile headshot on my website and socials (pup and pink hair included, of course), replacing the low quality selfie photo that was once in its place. So, was all the hard work and energy I put into organising a photoshoot worth it? 100% yes! Even with all the issues I had along the way, I couldn’t be happier to now have this set of photos to treasure.

This journey taught me not only the power of persistence, but the importance an individual photo can hold. When I look at this photo of the three of us, I don’t see all the difficulties we had leading up to the shoot. I see my favourite faces – I see love. When my clients see my headshot photo now, they see the real me – pink hair, big smile, puppy cuddles and all. A photo isn’t just a photo, it’s a depiction of how you see yourself, and how you want the world to see you.

So tell me, is it time for you to update your Headshot or Personal Branding photos and show your audience the real you? I’ll promise to make it as easy, stress-free and fun as possible for you! I want you to end up with a set of photos you LOVE, that can help you skyrocket your business onward and upwards!
